Pancha Tattva :- 'Panch' means five and 'tattva' means elements

Today we all are busy in our life that what we are forgetting which is called as Dharma. Now that doesn't mean following your religion and discarding others religion. But it's a more detailed and deep concept which gathers everything in a more precise way which relates to different phases of life. Dharma if we say the work we do defines us, the humanity which we posses is the real thing though Humanity is a thing in terms of name only nowadays but there are some people still who show the great example of Humanity.

Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 18, Verse 47

BG 18.47: It is better to do one’s own dharma, even though imperfectly, than to do another’s dharma, even though perfectly. By doing one’s innate duties, a person does not incur sin.


The term panch tatva is used in hindu mythology which means five elements. It is said that balancing panch tatva could help to live a healthy life as five fingers leads the panch tatva.

Panchtatva connotes the five elements i.e. Sky or Space (Akash), Wind (Vayu), Fire (Agni), Water (Jal) and Earth (Prithvi).

  • The earth element (tatva) represents bones and muscles and the finger that indicates earth element is ring finger . Disorders caused due to this element are weight gain, cholesterol and muscle related disorders.
  • the air element represents the blood hence can cause disorders related to lungs,blood pressure and nervous system it can also cause pain and deppression.Finger which indicates air element is index finger.
  • the water element is related to tongue and genitals hence it causes disorders like blood clotting ,asthama,taste disorder and kidney stone dehydration etc and the fingere that represents water element is little finger.
  • the fire elemenis connected to eyes and flow of energy and hence disorders are gastric,acidity, skin disorders,diabetes ,mental illness,exhertion and weak eye sight .Thumb represents the agni tatva.
  • The space element or akaash tatva is related to ear thus hearing problem is created by the space element disorder that causes hearing as well as mind related disorders ,thyroid epilepsy and the element is represented by middle finger.

 Various forms of Yoga and Pranayama (yogic breathing) helps to balance the five elements of the body.
